Stuck in a Robots Only Elevator
Okay, so this happened a few days ago, but I must tell it to the world. I was at the hospital and there are these elevators which are closer to our Command Center then the other elevators and they worked the week before, but this week, I pushed the button and it didn’t light up and the doors didn’t open. Come to find out, they were officially robots only elevators. Despite the obvious segregation, I chose to overlook this and continue on the few dozen feet to the human staff elevators for the rest of the week.
However, on Thursday, I was walking past the robots only elevators and there was a robot coming out of them so the doors were open. I thought, “cool, I’ll just sneak in here real quick.” So I get inside, the doors close and none of the buttons work. Not the door open/close, none of the floors, nothing. Shit was my first thought. There was a call button, but I really didn’t want to push it. I heard the faint sound of the robots moving through the halls, “Attention, Automatic Transport.” I heard the voice get louder and louder, getting hopeful, but then it would fade away. So I finally pushed the call button.
“Emergency? Emergency? Emergency?” the lady on the other side said really fast.
“Uh, hello?” I said thinking it was a recording.
“Do you have an emergency,” the human woman said.
“Um, no not really”
“this is an emergency only line”
“well I’m stuck in an elevator.”
“so you have an emergency.”
“I guess”
“What’s your name?”
“Zach” I said not wanting to give my full name.
So finally she says that she’s going to send help. I wait in anticipation while updating my twitter of my predicament. Finally, after a half hour, another robot summons the elevator to open and I am able to escape while keeping my dignity somewhat and not having to be rescued by anyone.
